Gabriel Rourke
I am an incoming PhD candidate at Boston University studying economics. Previously, I studied my undergrad in mathematics and economics at the University of Chicago and my Master's degree in Economic Policy from BU.
I currently work as a research analysis for RPB Energy Economics and before that I have worked as a research assistant in development economics at the London School of Economics and as a teaching assistant at the University of Chicago.
My areas of interests are labor economics, public finance, and applied econometrics. Specifically, I am interested in understanding how governments can increase welfare and intergenerational mobility through their social programs such as Unemployment Insurance, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Additionally, I am studying the role that technological changes and structural shifts have had on inequality, intergenerational mobility, and the distribution of wealth.
